Moirai, Part II | Yongguk & Changmin

changmin-alive:

For a couple of seconds, the voice had seemed to come from somewhere far away from him, reverberating like an echo that was soon to fade in the back of his mind, and only when the ringing in his ears stopped he was able to slowly take a hold of reality once more. Time did not seem to be flowing by but skipping seconds and minutes as if they held no importance or if they had never existed beyond the sole thought of them.

Acknowledging the presence in front of him, his gaze lifted up from the floor to fall upon the man and recognizing him instantly. It had become almost nerve wrecking, being seen in such a state of weakness was not something to be proud of, always hiding, disappearing until he could not give away under the scrutinizing eyes that something had shocked him to the bone. Yet here he was, barely standing on his feet, and even through that apprehension that caused to be seen in his current state which his friend would probably not let go of easily, a part of him was also relieved.

Since it had started, he had only drifted further and further away from the people around him.

“I’ve never..been better…” He murmured as a reply, obviously trying to convey a bit of that wittiness that once had been quite characteristic of him but failing when the tone surrounding his words had felt weary. “It’s good seeing you again..Yongguk.” Using the full name of the man felt strange on his tongue but he could not find it in himself to call him in any other way in the time being, not when he had also distanced from his friend without any other word than hectic schedules, a limited communication of a few texts here and there.

He did not know how but in a matter of seconds he was not able to focus his gaze properly anymore, his head feeling so heavy that he felt as if gravity was pulling him down with all the weight and soon his knees crashed against the cold floor, consciousness slipping away from him once more before he could even realize what was happening around him.

He had watched as the long seconds pass before the male finally responded. It wasn’t until the voice had reached him, so weak and filled with the loss of steady thought, that Yongguk recognized exactly who it was. If it were any other time Yongguk would have stood there, leaned against the door frame, and observed. With the current situation, however, he couldn’t. Not at this hour. Not when the moments that passed spoke of nothing but calamity.

Yeah — like hell you haven’t been better,” was all he said before the body, once slumped against the wall, began falling forward. Cursing inwardly, Yongguk jolts from his current position, reaching out to; hopefully, catch his friend before physical damage could join what appeared to be mental damage. In the moments of confusion, Yongguk ended up holding a now unconscious male, seemingly at rest.

Despite having not seen the male in so long, hardly anything had appeared to have changed upon a quick glance. Darkness shrouded majority of the features, concealing far too much to make a right judgement.  “It’s always great to see you. Just not like this,” he huffs out as he tugs and shuffles slightly to pull the latter onto his back.

Once he was sure that the male wouldn’t fall off with any movement, Yongguk straightens himself up and heads back inside, all the while muttering a combination of profanities and concerns. “What happened to you?” he mutters to himself, readjusting the sliding body on his back. As expected, there was no reply.

The quick journey to the guest room passed without, what appeared to be, any thought. Within his mind, on the contrary, sped images and texts of scarce conversations. Within his mind, time flew, rushing backwards and forwards in attempts to explain the current situation. Placing the figure carefully onto the bed, Yongguk shakes his head and glances about. In the next minute, a chair had been dragged next to the bed and sheets had been torn from their place in the wardrobe. Thoughts screamed lascivious contexts at him, demanding that he did more for the sleeping figure.

Yet, what could he do without knowing what had happened?

That lady.

Who was she? Exactly what about her made me speak to her anyways? Yongguk, what rubble have you pulled yourself into this time. I mean look at her, you sleep deprived idiot. She was enjoying her time on a roof. Heck she was standing there watching the city sleep and you had to waltz up and interrupt her.

You better pray that she wasn’t offended by any of your brainless words. I wouldn’t be amazed if she was a part of something quite important — you could easily tell from the power she seemed so confident with. Great job Guk. Great job.You have possibly offended an important individual. You nailed it — pathetic genius.

No. Don’t you go asking me who this is at this hour of the night, well morning. I am you and you are me. I am the more rational side of you that can only appear when you are not awake and dim witted. Now get your ass back to sleep — it’s three in the morning for time’s sake.

Send “can’t sleep” for a thought that might run through my muse’s head about yours at 3 in the morning.

Yongguk plods about the archives of the city. Being quite the large public building, the facility was constructed with private rooms, an area specifically designed for any individual that would like to drift off and engage themselves with the silence. So here is Yongguk, arms filled with books of history, time and whatever else caught his eye.

These books told him where he was. These books spoke the truth as to what line he had fallen into with his latest leap. Even if he had not gone through another memory lapse, he spent his hours reading to perform quick reality checks. If this were the Reboot, or another line, some information would indefinitely be different.

As he continued to walk down the aisles of private rooms, he huffed. There was no other room in this area that could support his need for silence. The very last room; the room that held nothing but the soft melodies of time. Even though this room was often vacated, Yongguk knocked lightly at the door, waiting for a response.

Nothing.

He pushes with his hip, body turned backwards as if to protect the texts cradled in his arms. It was the moment that the door cracked open that he heard it. At first, a soft whisper — nothing more. Slowly, it grew into strong flows of notes. Although the voice seemed perfect — clear and pleasing to the soul, it feel as if it were missing something. Yongguk watches as the door continues its journey towards the wall to reveal a man standing in the middle of the room, facing away from him.

“Oh, sorry about that.”
